Eric Stonestreet

Personal context

Summary

Eric Stonestreet is an American actor known for playing Cameron Tucker on Modern Family, a sitcom built around the comic dynamics of an extended family. In interviews, he has said he hoped the role helped viewers feel more comfortable with gay people, while describing the show’s aim as making people laugh rather than advancing an agenda. He and Jesse Tyler Ferguson took part in a Human Rights Campaign fundraiser for marriage equality, and Stonestreet said he declined a photo with Rick Santorum because of Santorum’s opposition to same-sex marriage. No broader public record of party campaigning, DEI roles, or activism across other causes is established.
