Personal context

Summary

Golda Rosheuvel is a British actor known for stage work and for playing Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton and its prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Her theatre roles include gender-swapped Shakespeare characters, including a lesbian Othello and a female Mercutio. She has said that playing those roles can make LGBTQ people more visible, and that greater visibility and celebration of sexuality matter; she has also described herself as not especially political. She has spoken positively about Bridgerton’s representation, inclusion, and diversity, while saying she initially approached the role as a job rather than a statement about casting.
