Personal context

Summary

John Cullum is an actor and singer known for Broadway musicals including Shenandoah and On the Twentieth Century, and for television roles in Northern Exposure and ER. His work spans musical comedy, Shakespeare, drama, and character roles. Discussing The Scottsboro Boys, he said prejudice persisted in both the South and North and called the story important. In a 2003 televised debate, he argued that audiences often prefer films without actors’ political views and criticized Sean Penn’s Iraq trip; no public advocacy on DEI, identity politics, or activist causes is on record.
