Josette Simon

Personal context

Summary

Josette Simon is a British actor known for Blake’s 7, Small Axe and extensive Royal Shakespeare Company work, including landmark leading roles in Shakespeare. She has spoken about racism and sexism in acting, objected to being defined by the label “black actor,” and criticized the narrow, sexualized roles often offered to women. Her public record includes these comments about racial and gender barriers, but no public record of partisan campaigning, DEI roles, or organized advocacy on those causes.
