Kristen Stewart is an American actor and filmmaker whose work ranges from the Twilight films to independent dramas including Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper, and Spencer; she made her feature directorial debut with The Chronology of Water. Her public comments have repeatedly addressed women’s treatment in Hollywood: she has called herself a feminist, criticized sexism and gender inequality, and spoken about the lack of opportunities for women filmmakers. She has also spoken publicly about being gay and about the importance of living openly, and addressed LGBTQ issues at a Human Rights Campaign gala.
