Kurt Sutter

Personal context

Summary

Kurt Sutter is a television writer, producer, and actor best known for creating Sons of Anarchy and co-creating Mayans M.C., crime dramas centered on outlaw motorcycle clubs and damaged characters. He has described his personal outlook as centrist-liberal, anti-gun, vegan, supportive of gay pride, and pro-choice, while saying he tries to keep his politics from shaping his creative choices. In developing Mayans M.C., he said he wanted a Latino writer to tell stories about Latin culture and traditions, and said the show’s border setting required it to address border issues. His public record includes clear statements about representation and personal political views, but no documented sustained advocacy campaign or activist affiliation.
