Summary

LisaGay Hamilton is an actor and director known for The Practice, stage work including August Wilson plays, and her Peabody-winning documentary Beah: A black Woman Speaks. Her work includes portrayals of black women in theater and on screen, while her public comments have repeatedly addressed racial and gender barriers in the entertainment industry and artists’ control over telling their own stories. She has defended keeping racism and sexism in the future-set drama The First; no party campaigning or formal DEI affiliations are on record.
