Personal context

Summary

Pierre Coffin is a French animator, director, and voice actor best known for co-directing the Despicable Me films and creating and voicing the Minions. His work is known for slapstick comedy, silent-film influence, and the Minions’ playful, multilingual gibberish. In a widely reported comment about the characters’ gender, he said he could not imagine Minions being girls because they were “dumb and stupid”; no public statements on identity politics, DEI, or activism are on record.
