Robert Duvall

Personal context

Summary

Robert Duvall was an actor, writer, and director known for The Godfather films, Apocalypse Now, Lonesome Dove, and The Apostle. His work ranged from crime dramas and Westerns to character studies, often centered on forceful, complicated men. Duvall publicly supported Republican candidates and appeared at the 2008 Republican National Convention, later saying he had moved toward the center and expected to vote independently. He criticized antiwar sentiment in Hollywood and said women should be independent and religion and politics should be separate; no recurring DEI or identity-based advocacy is on record.
