Roger Moore

Personal context

Summary

Roger Moore was a British actor best known for playing Simon Templar in The Saint and James Bond in seven films, often in suave, comic adventure roles. From 1991 until his death, he served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, advocating for children, and he campaigned against foie gras and wild-animal circuses. Moore described himself as a Conservative and supported the Conservative Party. In 2015, he argued that Bond should not be recast as a woman or a gay man, and opposed changing the character’s ethnicity; no public DEI advocacy or identity-based campaigning by Moore is on record.
