Simon Templar is a clever international thief who uses disguises, computers, and action skills to stay ahead of the FBI. A wealthy banker hires him after billions meant for aid in Nigeria are stolen and the banker’s daughter is taken hostage. Simon must recover the money, save the girl, and face Rayt Marius, a dangerous man linked to his childhood. The story moves through several countries and mixes crime, spy action, jokes, and a darker revenge story.
The movie gives Simon’s partner Patricia Holm a strong supporting role. Patricia is shown as a computer expert, a skilled fighter, and the brains of the team, while Simon is called the muscle. The story also presents Simon as a thief who sends stolen money to aid groups, including groups helping migrants and hungry children. The movie uses charity and resistance to corrupt rulers to show Simon’s Robin Hood code.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Saint.
Woke representation / casting
Patricia is a prominent female partner who is also a computer expert and fighter. The film includes a Nigerian president and a mixed international cast, but those roles fit the story’s worldwide setting. Marketing calls Patricia Simon’s beautiful partner rather than presenting the cast as a diversity project. The visible gender emphasis is limited, so the score stays low.
10%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue talks about stolen aid, corruption, charity, and police pressure. It does not give modern identity, DEI, gender, or activist speeches.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Patricia is repeatedly shown as highly capable beside the male lead. She is a computer expert, a deadly thief, and a self-defense expert. She tells Simon that she is the brains and he is the muscle, and a flashback shows her killing three men while handcuffed. Simon remains the main hero, but these repeated female competence moments make the identity-driven theme noticeable.
52%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film attacks corrupt bankers, arms dealers, kidnappers, and rulers as crime villains. It does not frame those events as a modern attack on Western culture, patriarchy, Christianity, capitalism, or traditional family life.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
The film keeps Simon Templar as the male lead and keeps Patricia Holm as a woman from the novels. It updates Patricia into a high-tech, deadly thief who calls herself the brains of the team. That is a noticeable change in her skills and status, but it does not swap the main hero or change her identity. The score stays low.
15%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
One small review attacks Patricia as an overpowered female character and objects that she makes Simon look like the muscle. That complaint matches the film’s repeated female competence setup, but it is isolated and does not claim a wider DEI campaign. Broader audience posts focus on weak writing, low-budget action, or the unused TV pilot. The separate X check found no anti-woke reaction.

Creator track record context
Cached notes put the key creators between 0 and 27, with no strong activist or DEI record. Leslie Charteris’s Saint stories use a Robin Hood idea and oppose corrupt power, but that is older adventure material. Simon West has a small record of backing Angelina Jolie as a female action hero. No title-related creator interview was found that frames this film around diversity or identity.
