2026– · Based on 1 season, 7 episodes through August 24, 2026 ·
Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black as she hunts Catherine Grace, a careful female serial killer. Catherine targets rich men tied to abuse and trafficking. Alice’s own painful past slowly connects her to the case. The show mixes dark crime drama, revenge, trauma, and short moments of humor. The story often blurs the line between justice and revenge. Women drive nearly every major part of the story. The show repeatedly focuses on female anger, abuse, survival, and the ways men and institutions fail women. A black woman leads the FBI sex-crimes unit, and a lesbian shelter worker appears in an early case. The series also uses a “Trans Kids Belong in Sports” sticker as a clear modern identity message. Queer tension surrounds Alice and Catherine, though their relationship is not openly confirmed as romantic.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Furious.
Woke representation / casting
The show places women in nearly all major power roles. Alice is the lead investigator, Catherine is the central killer, and Nora leads the FBI sex-crimes unit. Nora is also a prominent black woman in a top expert role. The cast pattern is clearly female-focused and supported by the show’s wider identity framing.
42%
Woke political dialogue
The women often discuss abuse, misogyny, and the failure of police and courts to protect victims. Nora explains why trafficking cases fail and why victims are often not believed. A seminar scene presents female anger as a lasting response to abuse. These ideas recur across the season.
32%
Identity-driven story themes
The story centers on female rage, sexual abuse, trauma, and revenge. Alice and Catherine are both shaped by violence against women. The show gives sympathy to women who act badly after being failed by other people. The story repeatedly asks viewers to see justice through women’s experiences.
63%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The FBI and police often appear slow, careless, or protective of powerful men. Wealthy men connected to trafficking seem able to avoid punishment. Male officers and other men are often shown as cruel, selfish, or dismissive. The season presents these failures as part of a wider male-dominated system.
41%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The show is only loosely inspired by the 1987 film Black Widow. No confirmed race, gender, or sexuality change to an established character is central to this version.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
One small X account called the show’s LGBTQ details and trans-sports sticker forced woke content. The post had little reach and almost no agreement. No major news fight, boycott, review-bombing, or organized backlash was found.
5%
Creator track record context
Elizabeth Meriwether has a strong feminist record and often writes about women’s sexuality and agency. Karena Evans has a strong feminist and diversity-focused profile. Emmy Rossum and Alexa Derman also have notable feminist or queer-focused records. Other key creators have milder or unclear public records.
