2026 · Based on 1 season, 6 episodes through May 7, 2026 ·
Legends follows Guy Stanton, a British customs officer who is tired of checking bags and wants a more meaningful life. In 1990, a heroin crisis pushes the government to create a secret unit with almost no training or money. Guy enters a Turkish drug gang in London, while Kate and Bailey work in Liverpool and Erin runs information for the team. The six episodes have a tense, grim tone, with dry jokes and a strong focus on the danger of living under a false name.
The clearest woke-related element is the makeup of the small hero team. Two women hold important jobs in the field and at headquarters, and Bailey is a black officer placed in the main undercover group. Kate and Erin remain capable across the season, but Guy, Don, Bailey, Eddie and several other men also drive major parts of the plot. The show does not center modern identity politics, queer themes or diversity speeches. Its main message concerns drug crime, public duty, political credit and the personal cost of pretending to be someone else.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Legends.
Woke representation / casting
The core unit has two women, Kate and Erin, and one black man, Bailey, among four selected undercover officers. Kate works in the field and Erin runs information for both operations, so the mix is visible in the main action. Guy and Don remain the main leaders, and Guy gets the central undercover story. The show gives no diversity-first reason for the casting, but its small period unit is built around a mixed group with women and a black officer in prominent skilled roles.
40%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The political talk centers on Thatcher, the heroin crisis, budgets, and who gets credit. The show has no confirmed modern identity, DEI, gender-role, or activist lines.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Kate and Erin repeatedly act as skilled members of the undercover team. The show does not make them flawless or make the men into fools, and Guy, Don, Bailey and Eddie also carry major action. The main identity theme is living under a false name, not race, gender or sexuality.
14%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The Home Secretary uses the heroin crisis to protect Thatcher’s government and later takes public credit for the arrests. The show presents politics as a fight for power and shows Customs as underfunded and the police as partly corrupt. These points create mild distrust of leaders, but they do not attack family, Christianity, capitalism, traditional gender roles, or modern identity ideas.
18%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Legends dramatizes a real Customs operation rather than changing an established fictional cast. No identity-related change to a named real person or source character was confirmed.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
One small culture-war account gave the show 13 out of 19 on a woke checklist. That account cited DEI casting, girlboss writing, weak men, and racism lectures. A few small right-leaning viewers praised the show as non-woke while still questioning the Black and female casting. These posts are viewer claims, not proof that every complaint is fair. No boycott, review bomb, or large campaign was found.
18%
Creator track record context
The supplied creator scores are low for Neil Forsyth, Guy Stanton, Julian Holmes, Brady Hood, Charlie Leech and Richard Bradley, with Ben Farrell the only somewhat higher score at 32. These profiles show little clear activist, DEI or identity-first work. The combined creator track record is a weak support for woke content.
