2020 · Based on 1 season, 10 episodes through January 10, 2020 ·
Dr. Lola Spratt and Dr. Owen Maestro work at a children's hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. A deadly virus sends them into a secret CDC unit that uses them as agents. The doctors travel through many countries as they search for a cure and the people behind the outbreak. The show mixes medical drama, spy action, romance, and very crude, fast comedy.
The show includes a brief story about Lola and Owen judging a Muslim intern because of his background and then admitting that they were wrong. The story tells viewers to check their bias and rejects a one-size-fits-all answer. Lola also becomes the main scientific mind after a male teacher dismisses and steals her research, while Owen is often the foolish partner. These ideas matter in small parts of the season, but the main story focuses on virus jokes, spy parody, the conspiracy, the cure, and the romance.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Medical Police.
Woke representation / casting
The two main doctors are played by white actors. Important new roles include South Asian, Black, and Asian performers in CDC, police, prison, and other skilled roles. The season repeatedly places people of color in powerful, capable, or dangerous supporting roles. The globe-hopping setting explains some of the mix, so the pattern is noticeable but not overwhelming.
35%
Woke political dialogue
Lola and Owen are told to check their biases after they suspect a Muslim intern because of his ethnicity and religion. The doctors admit that they judged him unfairly. The scene rejects a one-size-fits-all answer. The message appears in one short episode, while the rest of the season mostly uses medical, spy, and comedy dialogue.
28%
Identity-driven story themes
The strongest identity-driven idea is the story about judging a Muslim man by his background. Lola becomes the key scientist after a male mentor dismisses and uses her research. The show does not turn that conflict into a wider gender message. These ideas appear in small parts of the season, while the main story remains a virus hunt.
25%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The show does not present this theme. The CDC director, police, and government agencies are mocked as part of the spy parody. The show does not build a modern activist critique of Western institutions, gender roles, family, Christianity, or capitalism.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This factor does not apply. The spin-off moves the old doctors from hospital stories into a spy story. The show makes no identity-based change to an established character or source figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The X research pass found no anti-woke complaints, campaigns, or review-bombing. Broader coverage and fan discussion focus on comedy, the spin-off, and the plot.
0%
Creator track record context
Rob Corddry has a public LGBTQ-related protest history. Jonathan Stern worked on The Vagina Monologues. Max Silvestri has a stronger LGBTQ-forward and labor-activist record. The other listed creators and writers mostly have comedy careers with limited activist focus. Interviews about this show describe a comedy continuation, not a political or identity project.
