Travis Conrad is a former special operations Marine who has become a hired killer for the private company Red Mountain. He returns to South Africa to kill Keith, a company whistleblower who plans to testify at a United Nations hearing. Interpol agent Lin Bisset protects Keith, and she shoots Travis during the mission. Red Mountain revives Travis with experimental surgery, but a timer gives him only one more day to live.
Travis must choose between obeying the company and helping Lin protect her son. He learns that Red Mountain has used people in poor African countries as unwilling test subjects for its life extension work. His grief over his dead wife and son pushes him toward revenge, but the last hours also give him a chance to repair some of the harm he caused. The movie stays focused on bloody gun battles, fast chases, grim jokes, and a simple redemption story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for 24 Hours to Live.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The film uses Ethan Hawke as an American mercenary, Xu Qing as a Hong Kong-based Interpol agent, and South African performers in local roles. The international setting and character backgrounds give these choices a clear story reason, and the film does not frame them as a diversity message.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film mentions a United Nations investigation and a whistleblower, but it does not give woke political speeches. The dialogue mainly moves the action and the redemption plot.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story centers on grief, revenge, redemption, and saving a mother and child. It does not make race, gender, sexuality, or group identity the message of the plot.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. Red Mountain is a corrupt private military company that uses people in poor countries for experiments. The film treats this as the villains’ crime in a revenge thriller, not as a repeated modern critique of Western culture, capitalism, patriarchy, or traditional social life.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film is an original story about Travis Conrad and Red Mountain. It does not adapt an established character or rewrite a real historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Available audience posts and reviews discuss the action, Ethan Hawke’s performance, pacing, and ending. They do not accuse the film of pushing woke, DEI, or identity politics messaging.

Creator track record context
The stored record for Brian Smrz and the three writers shows little or no activist or identity-driven work. Most producers also have low stored scores and no public activist profile. Producer Kent Kubena has a mild progressive-related credit history, including work about social change and Black cinema, but no statement tied to this movie was found. This creates only a very weak creator track record signal.
