Eric LeMarque is a former professional hockey player whose career and life have been damaged by meth addiction and reckless choices. In 2004, he goes snowboarding alone in the High Sierra and loses his way when a huge storm covers the mountain. He has little food, poor clothing, and no clear path home as cold, hunger, wolves, injury, and drug withdrawal wear him down. His mother begins a search while Eric fights to stay alive, face his past, and accept responsibility for his life.
The film treats the ordeal as both a survival test and a path away from addiction. Eric’s memories show a hard childhood, a demanding father, a drive to win, and the pain that followed his fall from sports. His mother reads Bible verses and prays while rescue workers search, and Eric looks to the sky for strength during his worst moments. The ending connects his survival with faith, family love, and a new purpose after he loses both legs.
