Miami police detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett must work together again to fight a dangerous drug cartel leader. Along the way, they deal with getting older and join a new high-tech police team called AMMO. This younger squad brings highly visible gender and ethnic diversity into the story. A competent female officer also leads this elite tactical unit.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Bad Boys for Life.
Woke representation / casting
The AMMO squad features a diverse group of younger officers, including actors from different backgrounds and a prominent female leader, Rita. While this fits a modern Miami setting, the diverse team formula is very visible. However, it does not prioritize identity signaling over the story, and the narrative stays focused on the two male leads.
25%
Woke political dialogue
There is almost no progressive political dialogue or social-justice lecturing in the film. Brief race-related jokes appear like "Sorry, rich white people!", but there is no sustained progressive, activist, or social-justice dialogue.

Production
Identity-driven story themes
The movie focuses on traditional, non-political themes. These include male friendship, getting older, family, and fatherhood. There are no plots about systemic oppression, gender struggles, or identity politics.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The story lightly challenges the reckless, "shoot first" attitude of the older films in favor of family and non-lethal tech. However, this is shown through traditional themes of maturity and religious faith, such as Marcus praying in a church. There is no activist critique of Western culture or systems.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Mainstream anti-woke backlash is almost entirely absent. A tiny, fringe group of online comments complained about the loss of original director Michael Bay's edgy humor, but the film faced no real public or political controversy.
5%
Creator track record context
The key creative team consists of veteran action filmmakers with a very low track record of progressive activism. The directors, writers, and producers have an average score under 12, focusing on mainstream entertainment.
