Beavis and Butt-Head are two dumb teen boys from 1998. After they ruin a school science fair, a judge sends them to space camp. Their love of a “docking” machine gets them on a real Space Shuttle trip, which goes very wrong. A black hole dumps them in 2022, where they chase girls, mess with phones, and get hunted by the government. The tone is crude, loud, and silly.
The movie’s main push is dumb comedy and culture shock, not social-justice lessons. The boys still only care about scoring and junk food. One college scene has a teacher talk about “white privilege,” but the joke is that the boys totally misuse the idea and get arrested. Serena is a tough woman astronaut who later becomes Texas governor, yet she also tries to cover up her own crime for laughs. Most of the film is multiverse goofiness, Siri mix-ups, and classic Beavis and Butt-Head chaos. A normal viewer would notice a short modern campus gag and some government farce, not a big activist message.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.
Woke representation / casting
Animated leads stay the classic white teen duo. Side roles use a modern mixed voice cast (judge, agents, students) without turning race into the plot. Serena is a skilled woman astronaut and later governor, [SPOILER] but she is also a cover-up villain played for laughs, not a pure girl-power hero showcase.
12%
Woke political dialogue
A clear gender-studies scene uses activist language about white privilege. Students and a professor explain it on screen. The boys treat it as a free pass and get arrested, so the film uses the lines as a joke target, not as a lesson it wants you to accept.
22%
Identity-driven story themes
The spine of the story is space disaster, scoring, phones, and multiverse nonsense. Modern identity talk is one short gag, not the main arc or message.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Government agents and “Deep State” style hunting play as classic dumb bureaucracy comedy. Campus wokeness is poked more than Western life, family, faith, or “toxic masculinity” is attacked in activist style. The boys’ crude behavior stays the joke, not a sermon against men.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Beavis and Butt-Head stay the same crude 1990s idiots. Brief multiverse variants (including Empress Beavis) are tiny gags, not identity-driven rewrites of the established leads.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
No major right-leaning wave claims the film pushes woke or DEI content. Coverage that cares about politics mostly cheered the white-privilege joke as anti-woke satire.
0%
Creator track record context
Story leads Mike Judge, the directors, and main writers are cached near zero with PC-skeptical or craft-focused records. A few producers have diversity-program work, which lightly lifts the blended crew score without matching the film’s voice.
