Norval Greenwood is a spoiled Beverly Hills DJ who still lives with his mother after a hard few years. He travels to a lonely home on the Oregon coast after his absent father sends him a strange letter. The meeting turns ugly when the older man attacks him and dies, leaving Norval with a body, a hidden prisoner, and a violent gang problem. The film shifts from awkward family drama to bloody crime horror with very dark jokes.
The main woke element is the film’s repeated focus on manhood and old macho rules. Brian treats fighting, drinking, toughness, and control as proof that Norval is a real man, while Norval looks weak, vain, and out of place beside him. The story makes fun of this older code and gives a muscular woman a brief scene where she overpowers men. These ideas shape the father-son conflict, but the film presents them through crude violence and strange comedy rather than a clear activist message.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Come to Daddy.
Woke representation / casting
Precious is a muscular female escort who can overpower men in a fight. Madeleine Sami also plays a female coroner who gives Norval practical help. The rest of the main cast is mostly white men and the film does not market its casting as a diversity goal. The unusual woman fighter is brief, so the casting signal is mild.
18%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film has crude arguments about manhood, but it does not give modern identity, DEI, or activist speeches. The gender insults are part of a violent father-son fight.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Norval and Brian repeatedly argue about what a man should be. Brian treats fighting, drinking, toughness, and control as proof of manhood, while Norval is mocked for being soft and dependent. Norval then becomes violent while trying to protect his family. The film makes this conflict central, but it presents it as crude family horror instead of a clear activist message.
37%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film shows Brian’s older macho code as cruel and destructive. Brian mocks Norval for living with his mother and pressures him to fight and kill. The gang members also use violence and male entitlement as jokes. The story does not attack religion, capitalism, government, or Western institutions, so this critique stays limited to family and male behavior.
28%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film is an original story, so it does not change an established character, source, or historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. No title-specific anti-woke complaints appear in the reviewed coverage. Social posts and audience reviews focus on gore, twists, the haircut, and the father-son story.
0%
Creator track record context
Ant Timpson and Toby Harvard are mainly linked to strange genre films, with little public record of activist messaging. Several producers have moderate records on diversity or gender-equity work. Their context gives a mild supporting signal, but interviews about this film focus on grief, genre, and father-son trauma. The film itself does not use that producer context as a political message.
