FBI agent Daria Francis arrives in the small North Dakota town of Devil’s Gate after a past case left her shaken. She joins local deputy Colt Salter to search for Maria Pritchard and her young son Jonah. The search leads them to Maria’s guarded husband Jackson, who keeps an alien-like creature locked in his basement. The movie starts as a missing-person crime story and turns into a grim science-fiction horror tale about abduction, family fear, and invasion.
Daria works as a capable FBI investigator, but her arc centers on guilt from a failed case and the search for a missing family. Colt acts as a steady local partner, while Jackson’s faith, anger, and fear drive much of the danger. The movie treats religious certainty and family desperation as sources of danger, then explains the strange events through aliens, body changes, and a plan to replace humans. Its main ideas concern guilt, belief, parental love, and fear of forces that people cannot understand.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Devil's Gate.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The lead cast centers on a white female FBI agent, a white male deputy, and a white family in North Dakota. The film gives Daria authority in the investigation, but it does not tie that role to identity messaging or a diversity campaign.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue covers the missing family, religion, aliens, law enforcement, and survival. It does not use modern identity, DEI, or activist ideas.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story centers on alien abduction, family fear, religious belief, guilt, and survival. It does not build its conflict around race, sex, sexuality, or a present-day identity cause.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The movie shows a religious man acting dangerously and a sheriff hiding the truth, but those events serve the horror plot. It does not turn them into a modern attack on Christianity, men, family life, or Western institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Devil's Gate is an original film, not an adaptation or a retelling of an established story. It does not change a known character, real event, or source world.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The available X research found no anti-woke reaction. Web reviews and Reddit posts focus on the plot, acting, scares, and alien twist rather than woke or DEI claims.

Creator track record context
A few cached producer credits involve women's experiences, immigrant or international settings, and a romance between two older men. The stored creator scores are mostly low, with Peter Aperlo at 16/100 and Victoria Burrows at 13/100. The records show no strong activist or DEI pattern. This gives the title only a very weak creator track record signal.
