Dismissed follows David Butler, a tired English teacher at a public high school in Southern California. His class changes when Lucas Ward, a polished transfer student with perfect grades, joins the room. Lucas wants an A on every paper because he believes Harvard and his future depend on it. When Butler gives him a B plus, Lucas begins a cold campaign of threats, lies, sabotage, and violence against the teacher and people around him. The film has a tense, dark thriller tone, with school work and family life turning into danger.
Lucas uses a female classmate to trap Butler, while the teacher’s wife and other women face danger as his plan grows. The school also includes a black female principal and an Asian teacher, but their jobs stay tied to the school crisis. Lucas’s reading of Iago and his strange interest in Nazi ideas show his twisted view of right and wrong. The story centers on pride, pressure, manipulation, and the fear that a gifted student can turn against an adult.

Creator track record context
Available creator summaries give Benjamin Arfmann and Brian McAuley no clear public record of activist or identity-focused work. Edmond Pang Ho-Cheong also has a 0/100 score. J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules have 41/100 scores because BoulderLight backed films about Indigenous, feminist, and anti-fascist subjects. That record gives limited background context because Dismissed does not use those themes.
