Eli Miller is an eleven-year-old boy who seems so sick that normal air can burn his skin. His parents take him to a sealed clinic in an old house, where Dr. Horn promises a painful cure. Ghost children warn Eli that the adults are lying, but his parents keep him trapped for the final treatment. The tense medical mystery turns into loud demon horror when Eli learns the truth about his birth.
The adults have hidden Eli from the world because they fear the nature he was born with. Dr. Horn and her nurses are secret nuns who use prayer, holy water, and torture to change him, and they have killed other children like him. Eli breaks free after his mother finally chooses him over the plan, while the father who raised him still tries to kill him. The story can look like a warning about families and religious leaders who hurt children to make them seem normal, but this meaning stays inside its demon story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Eli.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main family, doctor, and supporting characters do not form a clear identity-based casting pattern. The film does not present its cast as a diversity statement.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The characters do not discuss elections, laws, parties, or modern activist causes. The religious dialogue serves the demon story.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Eli is never shown as gay or queer. The story still follows religious adults who call his inborn nature a sickness and torture him so he can be normal. Eli’s escape and his mother’s final acceptance create a recurring parallel to gay conversion therapy, but the movie leaves that meaning unstated.
25%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Dr. Horn and her staff are secret nuns who use Christian rites while torturing and killing children. Eli’s parents join the plan because they fear the nature he was born with. Eli defeats the religious order, and his mother chooses him over its demand that he be changed. The film uses this conflict as horror rather than clear political debate.
32%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Eli is an original story with no established character, source figure, or history changed for identity reasons.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Public discussion focused on the ending, scares, story logic, and religious horror. No clear complaints accused the film of pushing woke or DEI ideas.

Creator track record context
Director Ciarán Foy has a cached score of 20 based on mild social themes in earlier work. Most writers, casting staff, and producers have cached scores from 0 to 10 with no activist pattern. Producer Matt Alvarez is the main higher signal at 25, but his past work does not shape Eli in a clear way.
