Father and son coroners Tommy and Austin Tilden examine an unidentified young woman found at a massacre. Her body looks whole on the outside, but the inside shows centuries of torture, ritual marks, and clues tied to 1693 and Leviticus. Supernatural events trap them in the morgue. They learn she was an innocent hurt during the Salem witch period and became an immortal witch who feels every wound and makes others feel that pain too. Tommy offers himself, Austin dies, and Jane is still a threat when she is moved.
This is classic single-location supernatural mystery horror, not a modern social-issues story. A light gendered thread exists because an innocent woman was tortured by witch-hunters, her body is cut open in the autopsy, and she answers by sharing that suffering. The film uses Salem and Puritan religion as horror history, not as a lecture on race, queer identity, or present-day politics. Most viewers get a morgue thriller, not activist messaging.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Autopsy of Jane Doe.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The cast fits ordinary commercial horror for small-town Virginia. The leads are a white father and son, Jane Doe is played by a white Irish actress, and only a minor black trooper appears in support. There is no quota-style friend group or identity-framed casting pitch.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. Talk stays on autopsy work, father and son bonds, and solving the supernatural case. There are no DEI, race, gender-identity, or activist talking points. Biblical lines work as a historical plot clue, not progressive speech.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The main arc is a horror mystery with Salem witch revenge. There is a light gendered beat because an innocent woman was tortured, examined, and then forces others to share her pain. That stays historical horror subtext, not a modern identity-politics thesis.
10%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The threat grows out of 1693 Puritan witch persecution, torture, and false accusation. The film shows that religious legal system as the source of the monster. It is light historical critique, not a long attack on modern Western culture.
20%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This is an original story, not a rewrite of a known franchise character or real figure for DEI or identity reasons. Jane Doe is a fictional body loosely tied to Salem-era folklore.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. There was no real right-leaning campaign calling this film woke propaganda. Talk stayed on scares and craft. Random online jokes do not count as organized backlash.

Creator cache scores for this title point to low-activism genre craft. Main names sit low, and the higher outliers are not the story drivers.
