Fast Charlie follows Charlie Swift, an aging hitman who works as a fixer for Stan, a longtime mob boss in Biloxi, Mississippi. A botched killing leaves the victim without a head, so Charlie needs help proving who the man was. Before he can solve that problem, a rival boss kills Stan and most of his crew. Charlie then crosses Mississippi and New Orleans on a violent path of revenge. The film mixes dry jokes, bloody action, crime family loyalty, and a late-life romance.
Marcie Kramer, the dead man's ex-wife, is a skilled taxidermist who becomes Charlie's partner and love interest. She knows how to protect herself and makes choices of her own while helping him uncover what the rival boss wants. Charlie remains the main fighter and decision maker, but the story gives Marcie a useful role in the central plot. The film focuses on personal loyalty, revenge, regret, aging, and the hope of starting over after a life of violence.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Fast Charlie.
Woke representation / casting

0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue centers on mob work, loyalty, money, revenge, and personal rules. No character gives a modern political or activist speech.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. Marcie is a capable woman and a major partner, but the film treats her role as part of a crime adventure and romance. It does not build the plot around race, sex, gender identity, or a modern identity cause.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film shows criminal bosses, violence, and betrayal, but it does not turn them into a modern critique of Western institutions or social norms. Its idea of playing by your own rules is personal advice, not activist messaging.

Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie adapts Victor Gischler's 2001 novel Gun Monkeys and moves the setting from Florida to New Orleans. No reported change to a character or the source story is tied to woke or identity-driven messaging.

Creator track record context
Phillip Noyce has a past pattern of making race and colonial-history dramas, including Rabbit-Proof Fence, Catch a Fire, and Roots. Cached scores place Noyce at 26, Richard Wenk at 8, and Victor Gischler at 0. Most producers and casting directors have low stored scores, with a few mild inclusion-related credits. Fast Charlie itself does not carry that pattern.
