Headshot follows Ishmael, a wounded young man who wakes after two months with no memory. Ailin, a trainee doctor on a small Indonesian island, treats him and gives him a new name. A crime boss named Lee learns that Ishmael is alive and sends killers after him, while Ailin and a young girl are taken hostage. Ishmael crosses beaches, buses, police stations, and hideouts to rescue them and face the violent past that made him a killer. The tone is grim, fast, and extremely bloody.
The story centers on memory, guilt, and the chance to choose a better life after years of abuse. Lee raises kidnapped children as loyal fighters, so Ishmael must battle people who were once like family to him. Ailin is a doctor who helps Ishmael, while Rika is a skilled assassin tied to his past, but their roles serve the crime story rather than a message about identity. The movie treats crime, loyalty, and personal redemption as its main ideas, and its long fight scenes matter more than political or social debate.
