Little Bone Lodge follows Rose, a mother who lives with her daughter Maisy and wheelchair-bound husband Pa in a remote Scottish farmhouse. During a violent storm, injured brothers Jack and Matty arrive after a crash and take the family hostage. The night becomes a fight between the brothers, the family, and the people searching for them. The film uses a dark, tense, and twist-heavy horror style, with secrets hiding in almost every room.
Rose's control of the house grows from motherhood, grief, and revenge, and her choices change how the audience sees her. A black father is part of the family, while a black police officer appears in the crime story, but race does not drive the plot. Maisy and Matty form a fragile bond while each family hides pain, violence, and a need for protection. The film asks whether love and duty can become cruel when people try to protect the family at any cost.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Little Bone Lodge.
Woke representation / casting
The small farmhouse family includes a black father in a remote Scottish setting, and a black police officer appears in the crime story. These are visible identity choices in a mainly white cast. The film does not make race a topic or market the cast as a diversity statement. The black father is mostly passive because of his disability, and the officer is killed early, so the pattern is limited.
20%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film’s spoken lines deal with threats, family, crime, injury, and revenge. The dialogue does not push modern identity, DEI, or activist ideas.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The film makes Mama the strongest force in the house, even though she first appears to be a normal mother protecting her family. It also lets Jack show fear, tenderness, and tears while Matty seeks a mother figure. These choices play with expected male and female roles, but the film uses them for suspense and family drama. The story does not present them as an activist lesson.
15%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The story shows criminals, police, family control, and revenge, but it does not attack modern Western institutions or traditional social norms.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film is an original story, so it does not change established characters, canon, or real historical figures.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke posts or complaints. Web and Reddit discussion focused on the twists, acting, and horror, not on DEI or identity politics.

Creator track record context
Matthias Hoene is mainly known for genre films and has no strong public activist profile. Neil Linpow’s public work centers on contained thrillers, family, responsibility, and moral choices. Linpow has supported more inclusive access to film work, but there is little sign of a strong activist persona. The producers have commercial and genre backgrounds without clear identity-driven activism.
