Love, Guaranteed is a light 2020 romance comedy set in Seattle. Susan Whitaker is a cash-strapped lawyer who often takes free cases for people who need help. She accepts Nick Evans as a paying client after he says a dating site failed to deliver the love it promised after almost 1,000 dates. Susan tests the service, prepares for court, and slowly falls for Nick while both learn that love cannot be bought or promised.
The film gives Susan the lead legal role and makes Nick the man who needs her help, which flips a common romance setup. Susan is shown as hardworking, brave, and kind, while Nick is gentle, skilled, and helpful. The movie also includes Roberto, a gay office worker who jokes about finding Nick attractive, but his part is small and he is not in the main romance. The main themes are work, loneliness, online dating, family, kindness, and taking a chance on love.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Love, Guaranteed.
Woke representation / casting
Roberto is a gay office worker who jokes about finding Nick attractive. The main couple is interracial, and the supporting cast includes black and Asian characters. The movie treats these details as part of a present-day Seattle setting rather than as a diversity message. The identity material is brief and secondary.
20%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The courtroom talk focuses on false advertising, money, dating, and love. The movie does not use modern identity, DEI, or activist lines.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Susan leads the legal case and is shown as a skilled woman who fights for people who cannot pay. Nick is the male client who is searching for love, which flips a common romance setup. The movie also links Susan’s work life to her fear of dating and asks her to make room for romance. Nick is kind and capable, so the story does not repeatedly make men foolish or women dominant.
28%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The movie lightly criticizes a dating company for making a promise it cannot keep. It does not attack Western institutions, family life, traditional values, or men as a group.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Love, Guaranteed is an original story about a lawyer, a client, and a dating website. It does not change an established character, source, or real historical event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke complaints, boycott talk, or review bombing. Web reviews mostly called the movie predictable or bland, not woke or political.
0%
Creator track record context
The stored creator notes give Mark Steven Johnson and the two writers low woke scores and show no strong activist record. Rachael Leigh Cook has a limited criminal-justice advocacy record, but it is not tied to this film’s story. Casting director Venus Kanani has a clearer diversity-first casting record than the rest of the team. The film itself is still a standard romance comedy, so creator context is mild.
