Jonas Taylor is a tough deep-sea diver who now helps protect the ocean and raises his late wife’s teenage daughter. He joins an international research team that works near the Mariana Trench, where giant prehistoric sharks live. Their trip goes wrong when a secret mining crew digs into the trench for rare metals and sets off a chain of disasters. Sharks and other monsters reach the surface, and the crew must fight to stay alive. The movie is loud, silly, and full of big action set pieces.
The story stays focused on survival, family ties, and stopping greedy villains who wreck the sea for money. Jonas and his partners try to save people at a beach resort while megasharks and other creatures attack. The main conflict is man versus monster and man versus crooks, not race, gender, or identity politics. The tone is popcorn action with jokes, stunts, and creature fights rather than a social lecture.
