This documentary follows actress Mariska Hargitay as she explores the life of her mother, Jayne Mansfield, who died in a car crash when Mariska was a toddler. The film looks at her mother's high intelligence versus how old Hollywood marketed her as a dumb sex symbol. It touches lightly on how the old studio system treated women unfairly. These mild feminist themes are visible but remain secondary to the emotional family story.
