Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Predator: Badlands.
Woke representation / casting
The movie cast a diverse newcomer, Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, as the main Predator and Elle Fanning as a female android. There are no obvious diversity quotas or identity-driven casting agendas. The small cast fits the alien setting well, though the casting of a minority lead aligns with modern industry trends.
20%
Woke political dialogue
There is no political dialogue or social justice lecturing in this movie. The characters do not use activist words. The script stays focused on the sci-fi plot and survival.

Identity-driven story themes
The movie focuses on a weak underdog who rejects his father's harsh expectations. He learns to value empathy, sensitivity, and chosen family. While there is no actual gay romance, these soft themes led major critics to call the movie a queer coming-of-age allegory.
35%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film portrays the traditional, aggressive culture of the male Predator clan leader as toxic and bad. The hero must reject this harsh patriarchal rule. Instead, he embraces cooperative, soft, and caring relationships with an outcast female robot.
25%
Woke character or canon changes
The movie makes a big change to franchise lore. It turns the famous, terrifying space monster into a sympathetic, sensitive underdog who gets in touch with his feelings. This softens the scary identity of the classic creature to fit a family-friendly PG-13 tone.
45%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
The movie faced heavy backlash from conservative fans and online channels. They accused Disney of making the franchise soft and woke. This anger grew after a major review labeled the character as the first queer Predator, sparking outrage that the monster was ruined.
75%
Creator track record context
The creators have a very low average woke score. Director Dan Trachtenberg has a 25/100 score, while other crew members like Jeff Cutter have 0/100 scores. There is very little history of activist or political work among the main team.
