Several generations after the wise ape leader Caesar dies, apes rule the Earth while humans live as wild scavengers in the shadows. A young chimpanzee named Noa belongs to a clan that trains eagles for hunting. Raiders led by a new tyrant ape king destroy his village and take his family captive. Noa sets out on a long journey with a wise orangutan and a speaking human girl named Mae to find his people and decide what comes next for both kinds.
The story follows Noa as he learns about the past leader Caesar and sees how one powerful ape twists those old teachings to build an empire and enslave others. Mae has her own mission to recover lost human knowledge and tools. Their partnership raises questions about trust and whether apes and humans can share the world. The film focuses on adventure, loyalty, power, and hard choices in a world of ruins and new beginnings. Viewers see big action and effects more than any social lessons.
