Movie review
Sandy Cheeks is a squirrel scientist who lives in Bikini Bottom with SpongeBob and their friends. A laboratory pulls the whole town from the ocean and takes it to Texas. Sandy and SpongeBob travel across the surface to rescue everyone. The movie uses bright animation, live action, songs, and fast family comedy. Sandy is the main hero, and the story repeatedly shows her as smart, brave, athletic, and able to lead the rescue. The movie also presents science as useful when good people control it, but dangerous when a business leader uses it for profit. The villain plans to change sea creatures and sell them as toys. These themes create mild social messages, but the film does not focus on modern identity politics, gender politics, or activist causes.
