Annie is a shy high school senior who feels trapped after moving to a small California town. She meets Jules, a bold dancer who wants to leave for New York, and the two quickly become close. They fall in love while trying to earn enough money to run away through webcam modeling. The film begins as a sweet teen romance and turns into a tense thriller about bad choices, blackmail, and violence.
The film puts a same-sex relationship at the center of the story, and Annie explores her sexual identity through her bond with Jules. The girls treat their romance as normal, while school rules, parents, and small-town judgment push them to hide parts of their lives. The webcam plan gives them control over money for a short time, but it also exposes them to adult danger. The story supports their love and freedom, yet it also shows that their risky choices bring painful results.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Teenage Cocktail.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The two main roles go to women because the story is about two girls who fall in love. The modern California setting does not make that casting a clear identity statement, and the film does not show a diversity-first casting pattern.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film does not use clear speeches or repeated lines about DEI, gender politics, or activism. Conversations about school judgment, sex, and online choices stay inside the teen story.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The film makes Annie and Jules’s same-sex romance the main relationship. Annie explores her sexual identity as Jules draws her into a new life. The story treats the girls’ love as normal instead of making them defend it in speeches. The girls also reject parental control, school rules, and small-town judgment as they seek freedom, but the thriller shows serious harm from their choices.
85%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film shows school rules, parental control, and small-town values as limits on the girls’ choices. The girls hide their webcam work and plan to leave instead of accepting those limits. The story presents the adults as flawed and sometimes protective, not as part of a large system that hurts people. The film offers a mild critique of social control without a broad attack on family, faith, or Western institutions.
24%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film tells an original story about Annie and Jules. It does not alter a known character, book, real person, or historical event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Searches found no clear complaints that the film pushes woke, DEI, or identity politics. A few user posts reacted negatively to the lesbian focus or criticized the male-directed viewpoint, but they were isolated and did not frame the film as an agenda.

Creator track record context
John Carchietta has a cached score of 25 and a mostly genre-based career with one queer-centered project. Chris Sivertson, Amelia Yokel, and Sage Bannick have cached scores from 4 to 12 and no broad activist record. Travis Stevens has a cached score of 42 and a history of supporting women-led, gender-focused horror. The group gives limited supporting context rather than a strong activist record.
