A neurologist becomes obsessed with a comatose nine-year-old who has lived through a string of near-fatal accidents and then a fall from a cliff. Police search for the missing father while hospital visits, family flashbacks, and the boy’s strange coma visions mix together. Fantasy and crime blur until a dark secret in the household comes out. The film is a supernatural psychological thriller adapted from Liz Jensen’s novel. It focuses on child abuse, family damage, and the line between dream and real life.
There is little to no woke content in the story the audience sees. The plot turns on Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a troubled home, a deceptive mother, and the boy’s bond with his father after trauma. Hospitals and police help the mystery move forward rather than attack Western institutions as the main point. Dialogue stays on medicine, secrets, and family pain, not activist or identity speeches. Casting and structure read as a standard family medical thriller, not a diversity or empowerment message.
