James Harper is a skilled U.S. Special Forces soldier who gets kicked out of the Army after using banned drugs for a bad knee. He is broke, has a wife and son, and needs work. His best friend pulls him into a private military group that does secret jobs for big pay. On a mission in Europe he is double-crossed, hunted, and has to fight his way home. The tone is tense, sad, and action-heavy, more gritty thriller than superhero fun.
The movie focuses on family duty, friendship, betrayal, and how soldiers can be used and thrown away. It also has a plot about private war companies and drug-company money. Normal viewers will notice those ideas, but they show up as classic action-thriller politics, not as race, gender, or identity lectures. There is church, prayer, and a traditional family home. Casting is mostly ordinary military-style leads. There was no real anti-woke fight over this film.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Contractor.
Woke representation / casting
Leads are mainly white Special Forces men and a traditional wife and son. Supporting Middle Eastern scientist and European team members fit a Europe spy job. Diversity is not sold as the point of the movie.
5%
Woke political dialogue
Characters talk about soldiers left without care, private war jobs, and money made from disease and force. That is real, but it is thriller talk about power and greed, not identity or DEI slogans.
18%
Identity-driven story themes
Core story is duty, family, betrayal, and survival. It is not built on race, gender, or queer identity arcs.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
It criticizes how the military and private firms can use soldiers and profit from secret jobs and pharma schemes. It does not frame the West as evil through race, gender, or anti-faith attacks. Church and family appear in a normal, respectful way.

0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints

Cached key creatives score near zero; only the studio producer sits a little above default, without a strong activist record tied to identity politics.
