The Dark Knight is a gritty crime movie set in the dark metropolis of Gotham City in the late 2000s. It follows Bruce Wayne, a wealthy man who secretly fights crime as the masked vigilante Batman. He teams up with police officer Jim Gordon and honest prosecutor Harvey Dent to clean up the streets. Their plans are ruined by the Joker, a chaotic villain who loves to cause destruction and spread panic. The story focuses on how hard it is to stay good when fighting against absolute evil. It shows the difficult choices leaders must make to protect citizens from a major threat. For example, Batman must decide if using secret surveillance on citizens is worth saving lives. Characters like the brilliant Lucius Fox demand that they respect people's personal privacy. Ultimately, it is a tragedy about a hero who sacrifices his own reputation to save his city.
