Al Hart is a retired talent manager who feels useless after leaving his job and moving into a retirement home. He finds Buddy Green, a former comic he once managed, living there too. Buddy quit comedy fifty years earlier to raise a family and become a foot doctor. The two men leave the home and travel across the country to chase one last big show. The movie is a mild road comedy about aging, regret, friendship, and the wish to keep working.
The movie focuses on aging, work, and personal choice. Al resists being treated as helpless, while Buddy returns to the stage after years away. Their trip uses jokes about sex, drugs, death, and old age, plus a strange musical scene after using drugs. The ending values friendship, courage, and a second chance more than fame.
