Queen Margaret of Montenaro and Princess Stacy of Belgravia are preparing an international Christmas festival. When the Vatican's Star of Peace is stolen, they ask Margaret's troubled cousin Fiona to help get it back. Fiona joins her former boyfriend Peter Maxwell, a private security expert, and plans a break-in at the thief's estate. The bright romantic comedy mixes palace parties, disguises, jokes, and a Christmas heist.
The movie puts Fiona at the center and follows her effort to earn a second chance after trying to take the throne in the last film. Margaret and Stacy use their look-alike skills to help Fiona during the heist and at a hearing about her punishment. Fiona also faces the hurt caused by her mother's long absence before she accepts an apology and returns to Peter. The story gives women the leading action roles and places black and Asian actors in important royal and romantic roles, while its main messages are forgiveness, family, trust, and love.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star.
Woke representation / casting
The film uses Vanessa Hudgens as three central royal women. The supporting cast includes black actor Nick Sagar as a royal husband and Asian actor Remy Hii as Fiona's love interest. Hudgens said the team wanted an actor from a different ethnic background for Peter, so that choice had a stated representation goal. The pattern is visible in major roles, but diversity is not the movie's main subject.
42%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film's spoken lines focus on the stolen Star of Peace, crime, family hurt, forgiveness, and romance. No recurring identity, DEI, or activist speech is part of the story.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The story centers three women who choose and lead a plan to recover the relic. Margaret and Stacy use their look-alike skills to stand in for Fiona at the party and at her hearing. Fiona's emotional arc asks viewers to understand a flawed woman, forgive her mother, and let her return to family and love. These themes make female agency and personal healing visible inside a light family romance.
34%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The movie uses a royal court, a police case, a disciplinary board, a convent, and the Vatican as story settings. It does not attack men, Christianity, family life, or Western institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie continues its own fictional franchise characters. Its new plot changes concern a stolen relic, a family apology, and Fiona's romance, not a race, gender, sexuality, or historical change.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. No anti-woke backlash was found. X research found no relevant posts, and wider discussion focused on the cast, the heist, the romance, and the silly plot. No report tied the film to DEI, identity politics, or a boycott.
0%
Creator track record context
Mike Rohl and Robin Bernheim Burger mainly work in broad entertainment and have little public activist history. Megan Metzger has done research on queer representation. Vanessa Hudgens has supported LGBT acceptance and spoken about her Filipino heritage. Most of the other producers have little or no public activist profile. This gives the title some background context, but the movie itself does not center those issues.
