Rama is a young police officer in Jakarta who joins a team sent to arrest a drug boss. The boss, Tama, runs a tall apartment block full of killers and addicts. The team is spotted, the lights go out, and the exits are locked. Rama and the few men still alive must fight their way through the building to survive. The movie is fast, bloody, and tense from start to finish. Rama also came on the raid to find his older brother, Andi, who works for Tama. Their father asked Rama to bring Andi home, but Andi will not leave his criminal life. A police lieutenant named Wahyu planned the raid as a secret hit, and corrupt bosses set him up. Rama stays loyal to his hurt teammates and to his pregnant wife waiting at home. The story is about survival, family duty, and dirty deals inside the police, told through long fight scenes.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Raid.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The heroes and villains are Indonesian men in a Jakarta police story, which fits the place. Rama says a short morning prayer as part of a normal day. The film does not sell the cast as a diversity statement.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Angry comments online were about the extra US title word Redemption and about how bloody the fights are. Those complaints did not say the movie pushes identity politics.
