Thirteen-year-old Adam Harrison lives with his mother in suburban Portland and feels like an outsider at school. He learns that his missing father is alive in the forest and is the legendary Bigfoot. HairCo, a hair company led by a greedy chief, hunts the father so it can test and sell his special DNA. Adam and his father must escape the company while rebuilding their family, and the film uses bright computer animation, silly animal friends, school bullying, and fast chases.
Adam's strange body changes become a source of jokes and new powers as he tries to understand where he belongs. The family story asks whether a frightened father can stop hiding and become part of his son's life. The movie also treats bullying, friendship, courage, and personal difference as simple lessons for young viewers. HairCo's science plot warns against using living beings only for profit, but the message stays inside a light fantasy adventure instead of becoming a modern political campaign.
