Simon Leviev, a man posing as a rich diamond heir, meets women on Tinder and sweeps them into a jet-set life. He then claims enemies are after him and talks them into huge loans and credit-card debt. The story follows three main victims across Europe as they slowly see the con. The tone is tense true-crime with romance that turns into a hunt for payback.
The film is mostly about a real romance scam, money stolen through lies, and women teaming up with reporters to expose the conman. A normal viewer would notice a women-first point of view and soft notes that police did not take the cases seriously, plus talk about how the scammer used kindness and care as tools. That stays tied to the crime story. It is not built around race quotas, queer identity, DEI lectures, or big activist politics. The strongest themes are online dating risk, emotional fraud, and revenge.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Tinder Swindler.
Woke representation / casting
Real people from the case appear as themselves: European women victims and an Israeli conman. Reenactments follow that real cast of characters. No clear diversity-quota or identity-signaling casting pattern in lead roles.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Talk stays on the con, dating, loans, and police who brushed the women off. A light line of “women are expected to be kind and helpful” shows up in how the scam worked. No hard activist speeches about race, queer politics, or DEI.
12%
Identity-driven story themes
The film is built around three women scammed through romance and their later team-up for exposure and payback. Gender is part of the crime setup, not a race/queer/DEI identity campaign. Girl-power revenge is story-led, not a social-justice sermon.
12%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Shows weak police response to romance fraud and how hard cross-border scams are to stop. That is practical true-crime critique, not a broad attack on capitalism, whiteness, Christianity, or Western culture as a system.
18%
Woke character or canon changes
Not present in this title.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Public fights were about victim-blaming, the conman’s fame, and legal/money fallout. No clear wave of anti-woke or right-leaning claims that the film pushes woke, DEI, or identity politics.
0%
Creator track record context
Key director and several core producers have near-zero activist/DEI records. A minority of producers have mild-to-moderate representation-focused history, but this title tracks as craft true crime more than identity activism.
