Doug Jones is a Catholic priest who loses his parents and his faith after they are killed. He travels to China and gains the power to turn into a dinosaur when he becomes angry. Back home, he joins Carol, a sex worker who studies medicine and law, and they hunt criminals. Their plan puts them against a drug gang made up of Christian ninjas. The movie mixes grief, romance, bloody fights, cheap effects, and silly jokes into a loud B-movie parody.
Carol is a smart and forceful partner who pushes Doug to use his power and fights beside him. She gets a sympathetic story as a sex worker, but the film still makes Doug the main hero and the dinosaur kills the villains. A short joke hints that some priests may like men, yet the movie never confirms an LGBTQ character or relationship. The story also mocks church power through a Christian gang that uses drugs and forced conversion. Its main themes are faith, revenge, romance, and absurd genre comedy.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The VelociPastor.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The film has a male priest hero and a female partner, but it does not frame casting as a diversity or identity statement. Carol’s prominence serves the romance and crime plot, not a representation campaign.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Wei Chan uses the phrase “manifest destiny” for a plan to spread drugs and force church conversion. Father Stewart rejects forced conversion and calls it inhuman. The film also makes an ambiguous joke about Doug being “different” and about men in the church. These lines are brief and do not become a sustained modern political argument.
10%
Identity-driven story themes
Carol is a sex worker who studies medicine and law. She pushes Doug to use his power, helps plan the killings, fights beside him, and gives him confidence before the final battle. The movie treats her as a smart and sympathetic partner, but Doug remains the main hero and female power is not the main message. A short joke hints that some priests may like men, but the film never confirms an LGBTQ character.
24%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Christian institutions are a steady source of jokes, and a church-linked ninja gang is the main villain. Wei Chan uses drugs to recruit people and plans to force them into a Christian army. Father Stewart rejects that plan, while Doug leaves the church and keeps fighting its wider network. The movie mocks religion and forced conversion, but it presents the ideas as cartoon B-movie humor instead of a current activist attack on Western society.
28%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The movie is an original story about Doug and Carol. It does not change a known character, canon, or real historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The available X, Reddit, review, and news evidence does not show anti-woke complaints about the movie. The public reaction is mostly cult-film praise, jokes, or ordinary criticism.
0%
Creator track record context
Not present. The cached scores for Brendan Steere, Brandon Taylor, Jessica Yue, and Jesse Gouldsbury are all 0. The available interviews describe a low-budget genre comedy and do not show a DEI or activist track record.
