Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters play silly versions of themselves in this bloody horror comedy. Their manager sends them to an old Encino mansion so they can record a new album away from their usual studio. Dave cannot write a fresh song until he hears a hidden tape made by a metal band whose singer killed the other members. The tape lets an evil spirit take over Dave and drive him to finish a very long song. The movie mixes haunted-house scares, rude jokes, rock music, and over-the-top killings.
The story mainly makes fun of rock-star ego, band fights, and the danger of chasing a perfect song. Dave grows cruel and controlling after the spirit enters him, while his friends slowly learn that he is killing anyone who gets in the way. A neighbor helps the band find an old book and use it to push the spirit out. The last act reveals that their manager and the woman who rented the house planned the curse to sell a hit record and launch Dave alone. The promise of fame lets their evil plan continue after almost all his friends are dead.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Studio 666.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The main cast is the real Foo Fighters playing themselves. The supporting women play a neighbor, a property agent, and a brief murder victim. The movie does not build its cast around identity or representation.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The characters talk about recording, fame, demons, and band fights. They do not discuss elections, race, sex, class activism, or current politics.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The main story concerns possession, creative pride, and band loyalty. Race, sex, sexuality, and identity do not drive any plot or character arc.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The final twist makes a greedy record manager and property agent evil Satanists. The movie uses them for a rock-business joke, not a modern attack on Western culture, faith, family, men, or capitalism.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This is an original self-parody in which the band members play fictional versions of themselves. It does not change an established character or source story for identity reasons.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. No reliable anti-woke or anti-left complaints were found. Public criticism focused on the running time, acting, gore, thin story, and demon content.

Creator track record context
Dave Grohl has the highest cached score at 45 because of LGBTQ-rights work and support for Democratic campaigns. Director BJ McDonnell is 0, while co-writers Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes are 11 and 0. Most producers have scores from 0 to 18, while Tom Ortenberg is 25 for progressive political work. The key crew therefore carries a mild activist signal overall, but it does not shape this movie’s story.
