A human voice guides this film through the birth, growth, and death of the universe. The journey begins with the Big Bang, moves through stars, planets, cells, sea life, dinosaurs, and early humans, and ends with Earth and the sun fading away. The film has no ordinary hero or villain, because its subject is the whole natural world and humanity’s small place inside it. Its calm images, slow music, and soft questions create a grand, dreamy, and spiritual tone.
The film cuts its space pictures with short views of people living, suffering, working, and fighting in the modern world. The voice treats nature as a mother-like giver of life and asks about love, goodness, fear, death, and purpose. The story joins science with spiritual questions about creation while showing the long process of evolution. It presents human life as part of one huge chain of birth, change, loss, and renewal.
