Bryan and Cassie are an American couple whose marriage is still damaged by Cassie’s drunken affair with a co-worker. They rent a large villa in the Italian countryside and hope that a quiet trip will bring them close again. A charming local man named Federico soon enters their lives and uses Bryan’s jealousy and Cassie’s doubts against them. The film shifts from a tense relationship drama into a grim, erotic home-invasion thriller.
Welcome Home does not build its story around race, sexuality, or political activism. Its main idea is that trust can become dangerous when strangers share homes and private lives can be watched for pleasure. The film shows infidelity, male jealousy, sexual coercion, stalking, and hidden cameras as personal dangers inside the thriller plot. Cassie matters to the final fight, but the movie does not turn her into a political hero or a girlboss.
