Hush

Deaf horror writer Maddie Young lives alone in a wooded house after her novel succeeds. A masked killer with a crossbow stalks her and traps her at home. She cannot hear or speak, so silence and careful sound design shape every scare. The movie is a tight home-invasion fight where she must outthink the attacker and stay alive.

There is little woke content for most viewers. The lead is a deaf woman, and that trait drives isolation and suspense more than any identity lecture. Dialogue is almost free of politics, and the killer is a lone sadist, not a stand-in for society. The plot follows classic Final Girl survival, with clever escapes and household weapons. Some later write-ups call her an empowered heroine with a disability, but the film itself stays a craft-focused thriller.
