Zone 414 is a walled city in the near future where human-looking robots serve wealthy customers. Former police detective David Carmichael enters the city after robot maker Marlon Veidt hires him to find his missing daughter. David works with Jane, an android who has feelings, dreams, and fear. The dark case leads through murder, torture, paid sex, and a cover-up by a powerful family.
The film centers its social message on Jane’s fight for control over her own life. Wealthy men buy the right to use androids, while Jane is treated as a product even after she shows human feelings. David slowly moves from seeing her as a machine to treating her as a person, and he helps her leave the Zone. The story uses this conflict to ask whether a created being can have a real inner life.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Zone 414.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The cast does not come with a clear diversity-first message. The film does not frame its identity choices as a political statement.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue stays with technology, crime, emotion, and abuse. It does not argue for a current political party or activist cause.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Jane is a female-coded android who works as a paid sex companion for wealthy clients. The film shows clients treating androids as objects and follows Jane as she seeks control over her body and choices. Her feelings and escape are central to the story, but the message is told through artificial life rather than a direct debate about present-day human identity.
30%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The Zone lets wealthy clients pay to control and hurt androids. The story shows male entitlement and corporate secrecy, especially when the company hides deaths to protect its business. The film presents this as a dark crime-world problem rather than a broad attack on Western culture.
22%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film uses original characters and is not a retelling of a known story or real event.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke complaints or campaign. Wider reviews focused on plot quality and Blade Runner similarities.
0%
Creator track record context
Bryan Edward Hill has a clear history of writing about racial injustice and supporting more racial diversity in comics. Andrew Baird has no strong activist record, and the other listed creators have low stored scores. This gives the film some creator context, but the title-specific interviews focus on AI, emotion, human connection, and exploitation.
