Ariane Labed is a French actor, director and screenwriter, known for Attenberg, Alps and The Lobster; she made her feature directing debut with September & July. Her work and interviews have repeatedly addressed women’s experiences, sexuality, gendered violence and representation in cinema. She co-founded the feminist and anti-racist Association des Acteur·ices in 2022 and has called for safer working conditions and more varied portrayals of women and minorities. She is married to filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos.
