Harriet Walter

Personal context

Summary

Harriet Walter is a British actor known for extensive classical stage work and television roles including Succession and The Crown. Feminist themes recur in her work: she has advocated for more female-led plays, performed in all-female Shakespeare productions that she said addressed gender imbalance, and written about Shakespeare’s women and older women. She has described her early work as feminist political theatre and is a patron of Clean Break, which uses theatre to share the experiences of women affected by the criminal justice system. She also signed Artists for Palestine UK letters calling for a Gaza ceasefire and defending expressions of Palestinian solidarity; public party or candidate campaigning is not on record.
