RZA

Personal context

Summary

RZA is a founding member and producer of Wu-Tang Clan, a film composer and actor, and the director of The Man with the Iron Fists and Cut Throat City. His work often draws on martial arts cinema, spirituality, and the experiences of black communities. He has addressed racial injustice publicly: Wu-Tang’s song “A Better Tomorrow” responded to the killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, and he later encouraged relatives to protest after George Floyd’s killing and spoke in support of protesters. His public comments have also emphasized shared American identity and cautioned against dividing people by race.
